Cleaning, Disinfection and Hand Hygiene

Facilities including healthcare can be exposed to a range of pathogenic micro-organisms if appropriate infection prevention practices are not in place. These organisms can be transmitted through contact with contaminated objects such as high touch areas including door handles, railings, work stations and telephones. Good hand hygiene practices and surface disinfection are both critical in reducing the spread of infection in large scale work environments.

What can you do to reduce the risk of infection in your facility?

Surface Cleaning & Disinfection

For general cleaning and disinfection and normal additional precautions, we recommend Viraclean® or Surfex®. Both products have proven label kill claims for SARS-Cov-2 (COVID-19). For maximised cleaning and disinfecting efficacy we also recommend using  V-Wipes.

Hand Hygiene

As per the CDC recommendations above, Healthcare Professionals should perform hand hygiene using Alcohol Based Hand Rub (ABHR) before and after all patient contact, contact with potentially infectious material, and before putting on and upon removal of PPE, including gloves. Hand hygiene in healthcare settings also can be performed by washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If hands are visibly soiled, use soap and water before returning to ABHR.

Whiteley offer a range of hand cleaning products as Dermalux Everyday, Dermalux Natural Hand and Body wash, and Primrose Soap.

Whiteley recommends Bactol® Alcohol Gel, a 70% v/v alcohol-based hand rub approved for use in healthcare. For all non healthcare facilities we recommend Sanitol Antibacterial Hand Sanitiser.

As always please follow directions for use for the appropriate product.
